Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Relief Postman.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a married man who was acting as relief postman for the past nine weeks at Ballymacelligott, Tralee, County Kerry, was dispensed with on 17th April, 1954, and is now replaced by another man; and, if so, if he will state on what grounds the change was made.

When a temporary auxillary postman was urgently required at Ballymacelligott sub-office recently a substitute was employed provisionally, pending recruitment through the local employment exchange in accordance with normal practice.

When names were subsequently received from the exchange the applicant considered most suitable was employed.

Could the Minister say whether he had Army service?

The person to whom Deputy Spring referred was not put forward by the labour exchange.
