asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will obtain and make available an estimate of (a) the number of tourists who came to Ireland for An Tóstal in each of the years 1953 and 1954, and (b) the number of visitors who came to Ireland during the equivalent period in the years 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1952.
I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 10 and 11 together. Information is not available concerning the number of persons who visited Ireland for An Tóstal in 1953 and 1954. Statistics are available up to the year 1953 indicating the number of passengers entering the State by air, sea, rail or motor omnibus. Statistics of inward passenger movement during the month of April each year from 1949 to 1953 are as follows:—
