Vol. 146 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Building of Irish Ships.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of new vessels which Irish Shipping, Limited, have had built; the number of new vessels at present under construction, or for which contracts have been entered into, or the construction of which is contemplated, and, finally, if he will indicate the number of such vessels built, or intended to be built, in Irish shipbuilding yards.

Irish Shipping, Limited, have had ten ships built to date: the number of vessels under construction or on order or in contemplation is eight, one of which is being constructed at the Liffey Dockyard. It is possible that a further vessel may be constructed in the dockyard if a suitable contract can be negotiated.
