Vol. 146 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rejection of Ballot Papers.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, with reference to the recent Dáil elections, how many ballot papers in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown constituency were rejected because they did not bear the official stamp; further, if he will state if all, or most of these ballot papers were from the same presiding officer, and if he will state what explanation has been given.

The number of ballot papers rejected for want of official mark at the recent Dail General Election in the constituency of Dún Laoghaire and Rathdown was 57. I understand from the Returning Officer that it cannot be established whether all, or most, of these ballot papers were issued by the same presiding officer and that it is not now possible to give any explanation as to why these papers were not stamped.
