Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter Price Subsidisation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if rationing of butter will be reintroduced with the coming into force of price subsidisation on 23rd August next.

The answer is in the negative.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the present margins allowed on butter to retail and wholesale traders and what changes, if any, are intended in these margins when the retail price is reduced.

The present margins allowed on butter to the wholesale and retail trades are as follows:—

Bulk Butter

Roll Butter

Wholesale

8/- per cwt.

5/2. per cwt.

Retail

30/- ,, ,,

19/4. ,, ,,

It is not proposed to alter these margins when the retail price is reduced.
