Vol. 146 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bog Development.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if and when he proposes to have the Tullamore and Shroneowen bogs ready for disposal to local residents.

A sum of over £6,000 has been expended on the development of these bogs and work is still proceeding. It is estimated that perhaps 12 months must elapse before any large section of the bog will have dried out sufficiently to permit allotment.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is proposed to acquire the Glanderhig-Knocknaglogh-Rathea bogs for allocation among local residents.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of turbary in the townlands of Glanderhig, Knocknaglogh and Rathea. Proceedings for the acquisition of 100 acres of turbary in the adjoining townland of Banemore are at an advanced stage, and possession may be secured this year; inquiries are also being made in respect of additional turbary in the same townland.
