Vol. 146 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aer Lingus Cork City Office.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether Aer Lingus are making arrangements to open their own office in Cork City; and, if so, whether he is prepared to represent to Aer Lingus that such expenditure should not be incurred, having regard to the fact that the company has already three regular agents in Cork who are capable of handling all the business available in the Cork area.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce does not ordinarily intervene in the arrangements made by Aer Lingus to provide office accommodation, and such arrangements are, save in exceptional circumstances, entirely within the discretion of the company.

I have been informed, however, by Aer Lingus that they have already purchased premises for use as offices in the City of Cork.
