Vol. 146 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in regard to the Langford estate at Summerhill, County Meath (a) the number of acres reserved for afforestation and the number of workers employed thereon, and (b) the number of acres available for division; and, further, if a scheme for same has yet been prepared and decided on by the Land Commission.

Some 249 acres on the Langford estate were allotted for afforestation purposes together with an additional 95 acres which formed the residue of an older estate of the same name.

This forest section has not got a separate labour force, but about 14 men are normally employed on it.

There remain some 268 acres on the Land Commission's hands, and I understand that a scheme for allotment is being formulated but it has not yet been completed.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if a scheme for the allocation of the Plunkett estate near Summerhill, County Meath, has yet been decided on by the Land Commission; and, further, if he will indicate the number of acres involved.

Final proposals for the allotment of the Plunkett holding have not yet been approved. Some essential improvements preparatory to allotment are at present being carried out. The area is 110 acres.
