No proposals for the erection of flats in Smithfield have been submitted to my Department by Dublin Corporation but I understand that the area referred to was recently surveyed by the corporation with a view to the preparation of a comprehensive scheme for its redevelopment with particular reference to the provision of flats. Tentative planning suggestions for this redevelopment are now being considered by the corporation. I cannot say when the corporation hope to commence building.
