Vol. 146 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the present position regarding the erection of new schools at (1) Treenbeg, Newport, County Mayo, and (2) Doohoma, County Mayo.

The position in each of these cases is that the arrangements which are a necessary preliminary to the sanction of a grant towards the cost of the new school have been completed, except that documentary evidence of title to the site has not yet been obtained. The matter of title is receiving active attention. It is expected that proof of title to the site for the new school at Doohoma will soon be forthcoming, but that it will take a considerable time to arrange for the production of proof of title to the site for the new school to replace the present Treenbeg National School. A grant for the erection of each of the new schools will be sanctioned by my Department when satisfactory evidence of title has been furnished.
