Vol. 146 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick C.I.E. Wagon Shops.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether C.I.E. intends to build wagons in the company's wagon shops in Limerick City; and, if so, if he will state (a) when work is expected to commence, (b) the total number of wagons involved, and (c) when the work is likely to be completed.

I am informed by C.I.E. that the present programme of wagon building in the board's workshops at Limerick City is 1,000 covered goods wagons, the work on which commenced in November, 1953, and is expected to be completed about October, 1954. On completion of these 1,000 wagons the board proposes to proceed with the construction of 200 open wagons.

I am also informed by C.I.E. that further programmes of wagon construction are also being arranged for the Limerick shops on completion of the 200 open wagons.
