Vol. 146 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the delay in carrying through water supply schemes at (1) Ballinskelligs, (2) Caherdaniel, (3) Glenbeigh to Rossbeigh and (4) Mll- town and Farranfore, County Kerry; and if he is now in a position to come to a decision on the proposals before his Department in the matter.

The preliminary documents in respect of the Dunegan and Ballinskelligs water supply scheme have been approved and contract documents are now awaited.

No scheme for Caherdaniel has been submitted to the Department.

Before a final decision can be reached on the extension to Rossbeigh, particulars are required of the number of connections that will be made to the proposed main. The county council have been asked to supply this information and also to furnish certain technical information.

Approval to the contract documents submitted for the Milltown water supply scheme has been deferred pending the submission by the county council of an explanation of their reasons for abandoning the source of supply previously approved.

The appointment of a consulting engineer for the preparation of a scheme for Farranfore was approved in June, 1951, and the submission of outline plans is still awaited.
