Vol. 147 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - East Donegal Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of holdings in the East Donegal constituency area acquired by the Irish Land Commission since 1st January, 1953.

I regret that the Land Commission have not figures for the particular area mentioned. It may be of interest to the Deputy to know that four estates comprising 1,208 acres have been acquired by the Land Commission in Donegal since the date mentioned. Of these, two comprising 908 acres, one near Lifford and one near Ballybofey, appear to be in the East Donegal constituency.

Do the acreages given by the Minister include land for afforestation purposes?

No; they relate purely to Land Commission land.
