Vol. 147 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Creamery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is now in a position to sanction the proposal to erect a branch creamery at Kilgobnet, Beaufort, County Kerry.

The answer is "No". As the Deputy is aware, the Dairy Disposal Company has for the past year and a half been carrying out experiments in the combined areas of Kilgobnet, Boheeshil, Blackstones, Cromane and Caragh Lake, with a view to ascertaining what permanent arrangements for creamery facilities would be most suitable for these districts. These experiments have not yet reached the stage when it would be possible for the company to make a final decision in the matter. Pending the outcome of the company's experiment, the Kilgobnet milk producers are being adequately served by the existing travelling creamery which since June, 1954, has been catering exclusively for their area.
