Vol. 147 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the residents of the Cork Road housing scheme in Waterford City have made repeated requests, without success, to the local authority for the surfacing of the roads in the housing scheme, and, if so, if he will ascertain the present position in the matter and ensure that the work is carried out immediately.

I am aware that a portion of these roads has been resurfaced and that the Department has offered to consider favourably the raising by the corporation of a loan to meet the expenditure already incurred together with the cost of completing the work. The matter now rests with the corporation and the Minister has no power to direct them as to the course which they should pursue.
