I am informed that the wholesale price of flakemeal has recently increased in some areas and I am having the matter fully investigated with a view to ascertaining the cause for this increase. I understand also that, owing to the late harvest, the volume of millable oats at present reaching the market is below normal for this time of the year.
The price of flakemeal depends on the price paid for millable oats and as soon as I have definite information on oat prices I propose to take such steps as are open to me to ensure that flakemeal will be available at a reasonable price.
