Vol. 147 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disablement Benefits in Waterford.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state whether he has yet come to a decision in regard to the application of the Waterford Board of Public Assistance to have power delegated to them to administer the payment of disabled persons' maintenance allowances under the Health Act, 1953, and, if not, if he will expedite a decision in the matter.

The Waterford Board of Public Assistance has not requested me to delegate to it the duty of administering the Disabled (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1954. I have received, however, a recent request from the Waterford County Council and Waterford Corporation for the delegation of their functions under these regulations to the board of public assistance. The matter is being considered and an early decision will be conveyed to the local authorities concerned.
