Vol. 147 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New County Mayo Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state whether he has yet obtained documentary evidence of title to the site for the proposed new school at Doohoma, Ballina, County Mayo, and, if not, if he will take steps to have the matter settled as quickly as possible in view of the great need for this new school.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state whether he has yet obtained documentary evidence of title to the site for the new school to replace the present Trienbeg National School, Westport, County Mayo, and, if so, if he will sanction the issue of a grant as soon as possible.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 12 and 13 together.

My Department has not yet been furnished with documentary evidence of title to the site for either of these proposed new schools. In so far as my Department is concerned every effort is being made to have the matter expedited.

I am aware of the urgency of the need for the schools, and as I informed the Deputy in reply to his previous question on the 7th July, 1954, a grant towards the cost of the erection of each of the schools will be sanctioned by my Department when satisfactory evidence of title to the site has been received from the manager's solicitors.
