Vol. 147 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Future of Alcohol Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the present position in relation to each of the industrial alcohol factories, and the nature of any proposals which he has under consideration for the future use of these factories.

The factories at Corroy, County Mayo, and Labbadish, County Donegal, are being converted for the production of starch/glucose.

Industrial alcohol is being produced at Cooley, County Louth, and Carndonagh, County Donegal.

Production of industrial alcohol at Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, ceased on 30th September, 1954, and efforts to find an alternative use for the factory have not so far been successful.
