Vol. 148 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Visit to Russia.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in regard to a group of Irishmen, who recently visited Russia on the invitation of the Soviet Government, (1) what facilities were sought from or granted by his Department, and (2) when, and by whom, the application for such facilities was made.

No facilities were sought from, or granted by, my Department. Under present exchange control arrangements currency facilities for travel are made available, within the limits of the approved travel allowances, to residents of Ireland by banks and travel agents here and by banks in Britain without reference to my Department.
