Vol. 149 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Government Messengers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate the wages paid to (a) established Government messengers, (b) unestablished Government messengers, and (c) Government cleaners, and whether it is intended to increase these wages to meet the increased cost of living.

The information asked for in the first part of the question is to be found in the "Notes on Civil Service Pay and Allowances" and following table which appear in the forefront of the volume of Estimates for Public Services presented to the Dáil. As regards the second part, questions affecting the pay of the grades mentioned, in common with the other grades comprehended within the conciliation and arbitration scheme, are proper to be dealt with by the machinery set up under that scheme.
