Vol. 149 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Persons in Insurable Employment.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the numbers of males and females in insurable employment during each quarter since 3rd January, 1954.

The only relevant statistics available relating to the insurable employment of males and females during each quarter of 1954 are those for social insurance stamps sold during each period. I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving estimated figures of the average weekly numbers of such insurance stamps sold in each quarter in respect of the employment of males and females. I must point out, however, that the period during which the stamps are sold does not necessarily coincide with that during which employment is obtained, and further that the allocation between males and females of the sales of stamps of certain denominations is tentative.

Following is the statement:—

ESTIMATED average weekly numbers of Social Insurance Stamps sold during each quarter of 1954 in respect of employment of males and females.
