Vol. 149 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Potato Exports.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that farmers in the Kildrum area of County Donegal, which is three miles from the port of Derry, when exporting potatoes through that port, must haul their potatoes a distance of 14 miles to comply with the requirements of the Irish customs authorities, and, if so, whether he will take steps to end this situation.

No representations have been made to the Revenue Commissioners for permission to convey potatoes intended for exportation from Kildrum to Derry by the partially approved road passing through Kildrum. The commissioners will consider favourably any application made to them by intending exporters of potatoes in the Kildrum area for facilities in that regard.
