Vol. 150 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - House Valuations.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the excessive valuation being placed on new and reconstructed dwelling-houses and farm buildings by the Valuation Commissioners is causing a hold-up in the execution of such works by small farmers throughout the country, and, if so, if he will consider taking such steps as are necessary to have such excessive valuations reduced.

I am not aware that the valuations being placed on new and reconstructed dwelling-houses and farm building are excessive as suggested by the Deputy, or that they are causing a hold-up in the execution of such works by small farmers throughout the country. The second part of the Deputy's question does not, therefore, arise. In any case I should remind the Deputy that I have no function in regard to the fixing or revision of valuations.
