Vol. 150 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Drainage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the urgent need for the implementation of the drainage scheme from Mr. Andrew Keating's holding to Mr. Michael McCarthy's holding, Ballard, Emlaghmore, Killarney, thus making available over 500 acres of turbary, and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I assume the drainage scheme referred to is that described in my office records as from Derreen river at Andrew Keating's bog west to the main road near John P. Sullivan's house in the townland of Ballard Lower. As indicated in the reply to the Deputy's question on 8th April, 1952, in connection with this scheme, I am not aware of any urgency in the matter. The proposal will, however, be considered on its merits in competition with other proposals from the area when this year's summer bog drainage list is being prepared.
