Vol. 150 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Accidents on Dublin Quays.

andP.S. Doyle asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the large number of fatal accidents that have occurred at the Customs House quays, Dublin, because vehicles have been driven into the Liffey, he will make representations to the Dublin Port and Docks Board to take precautions to prevent such accidents in future.

The question of taking remedial measures to prevent future accidents at the Custom House quays area of the Port of Dublin is one for the Dublin Port and Docks Board and I have no power to interefere with the discretion of the board in the matter.

I am given to understand, however, that the problem has been referred to a works committee of the board and that various solutions are being considered.
