Vol. 150 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers' Shelter.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the forestry workers' shelter at Meenaboll, County Donegal, is still in an unsatisfactory condition, and, if so, if he will have it repaired as soon as possible.

My information is that the shelter at Meenaboll, Meeniroy Forest, is quite satisfactory and in a serviceable condition. There have been no general complaints from the men using it.

This building is of dry stone. It is unlighted and is so bad that when the timekeeper wants to fill his books he must go outside to do so. Is the Minister satisfied that such conditions are suitable and satisfactory conditions to have workers in whether they are employed by his Department or anybody else?

The statement made by the Deputy is not true—not correct.

It is true.

It is not correct.

It is true.

This shelter is thatched every year and kept in good condition by the men. Eleven of the men using it are quite satisfied.

That is not true.

I think you can tell the one man who is kicking up a shindy about this matter that he will have his trouble for nothing. What is good enough for the other 11 is good enough for him.

Is the Minister satisfied that is good enough for anyone?

Why was it good enough last year?

The Minister is telling an untruth. The point is it should not be in the condition it is in.

If Deputy Blaney does not cease interrupting I will have to deal with him.

On a point of order.

The Deputy will sit down.

On a point of order. Is it in order for a Minister to state that something I have said is untrue?

Certainly.

Of course, it is in order.

It is perfectly in order.

The Minister is the person who is telling the untruths and he knows that.

Deputy Blaney will cease interrupting or I will have to use the power invested in me to deal with him.

I am not interrupting anyone.

The Deputy stated that the Minister was telling untruths. Is that in order?

I did not hear the Deputy make that remark. If I had I would have dealt with it.
