Vol. 150 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wicklow Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands whether it is proposed to start work during the current year on the afforestation of the lands which have been acquired in the Baltinglass area, County Wicklow.

My Department has acquired an area of 107 acres at Stratford Lodge in the Baltinglass district and the area will be planted in the forthcoming planting season. Preliminary work will commence there shortly.

Is the Minister aware that in the Baltinglass area large numbers are unemployed? In view of that would he ask the Department to expedite the matter?

As a matter of fact we have done so and work will commence there very shortly.
