Vol. 150 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Improvement Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of West Cork, the number of works under the rural improvement schemes at present awaiting sanction by his Department, and when sanction will be issued.

All works for which the appropriate local contributions have been received have been sanctioned. If the Deputy has in mind the cases at present under investigation prior to the issue of an offer of a grant, there are 51 such cases. There has been unavoidable seasonal delay in inspections since last November as the staff were principally engaged in carrying out the winter programme of works. Outstanding inspections are, however, now being dealt with as quickly as possible.
