Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fruit Pulp Imports.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the quantity, (b) the price per cwt., and (c) the country of origin of all raspberry and strawberry pulp imported into this country in each of the years 1950 to 1954, inclusive.

Prior to July, 1953, statistics of imports of raspberry and strawberry pulp were not compiled separately.

In the period July to December, 1953, imports of raspberry pulp amounted to 802 cwt. from the United Kingdom, at an average landed value of £5 10s. 1d. a cwt., and 1,328 cwt. from Holland, at an average value of £4 0s. 8d. a cwt. There were no imports of strawberry pulp.

During the calendar year 1954, 178 cwt. of strawberry pulp—average value £4 16s. 8d. a cwt.—were imported from Holland. Imports of raspberry pulp totalled 492 cwt. from the United Kingdom—average value £5 4s. 5d. a cwt.— and 659 cwt. from Holland at an average value £3 17s. 2d a cwt.
