Vol. 151 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Schools.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has yet received documentary evidence of title to the site for the proposed new school at Doohoma, County Mayo.

My Department recently received satisfactory documentary evidence of title to the site for the proposed new school at Doohoma, County Mayo, and has now sanctioned a grant towards the cost of the erection of the school.

It will be a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works to make the preliminary arrangements for the building of the school. The arrangements will necessarily take a considerable time to complete, but they will be dealt with by the commissioners as expeditiously as possible, having regard to the many other cases on hands which demand attention.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has yet received documentary evidence of title to the site for the proposed new school at Treenbeg, Newport, and, if so, when work will commence on the erection of the school.

My Department has not yet received documentary evidence of title to the site for the proposed new national school at Treenbeg, Newport, County Mayo, but it is expected that the necessary title documents will be forthcoming at an early date.

When satisfactory evidence of title has been received, the grant for the erection of the new school will be sanctioned by my Department.

I am unable to say, at present, when work on the construction of the new school is likely to be commenced.
