asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total area of (a) untenanted land, and (b) tenanted land acquired or resumed by the Irish Land Commission during the year 1954-55.
Provisional figures for the year ended 31st March, 1955, are as follows:—
(1) Untenanted lands acquired 14,952
(2) Tenanted lands resumed 1,982
These figures do not include areas taken over from migrants or surrendered to the Land Commission in connection with rearrangement schemes; the grand total, including such areas, would be 29,224 acres.
