Vol. 151 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Division and Acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose, when dealing with the division of land at Kilcoleman, Old Head, Kinsale, County Cork, to construct a new road through the town-land, and, if so, what is the present position in the matter.

It is not the function of the Land Commission to build roads other than those which are necessary for the proper development of lands being allotted by them and, since the area on their hands in Kilcoleman is quite small, it seems rather unlikely that its allotment will call for any extensive road-building operation.

Nevertheless, I will ask the Land Commission to bear the Deputy's suggestion in mind when they come to deal with the lands.

andDonnchadh Ó Briain asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have yet secured possession of the Monsell estate, Tervoe, County Limerick, and, if so, when a scheme for the division of these lands will be prepared.

I am informed by the Land Commission that it is hoped to obtain possession of this estate in the coming winter, and to commence allotment of the lands in the spring.
