Vol. 151 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prospect (Limerick) School.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the urgent necessity for the provision of a new school at Prospect, Limerick, to replace Leamy's National School, which is very old and unsuitable in every way for the large number of children attending it, he will expedite the start of building operations.

Sketch plans for the proposed new school at Prospect, to replace the present Leamy's National School, Limerick City, prepared by the reverend manager's architect, have been approved, subject to some minor amendments by the Department of Education and the Commissioners of Public Works. The reverend manager has been authorised to instruct his architect to prepare the working drawings.

When the working drawings have been prepared every effort will be made to bring to completion as soon as possible certain other preliminary arrangements, which require to be made, in order to enable a grant to be sanctioned and tenders to be invited for the erection of the new school.

Has the bill of quantities to be prepared for this school before tenders are invited?

When the grant has been sanctioned and the working drawings prepared, it will be necessary to take out bills of quantities before tenders can be invited.
