Vol. 151 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unmarried Soldiers' Allotments.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will make provision to enable unmarried soldiers to make an allotment from their pay to their next-of-kin, the amount to be paid fortnightly by his Department.

Provision already exists in regulations whereby unmarried non-commissioned officers and privates may allot voluntarily from their pay to dependents nominated by them and approved by their commanding officers sums equal to the compulsory allotments of married non-commissioned officers and privates of similar rank. The amounts of such voluntary allotments are paid weekly as in the case of married men.
