Vol. 152 No. 3

Seed Production Bill, 1955—From the Seanad.

The Dáil went into Committee to consider amendments from Seanad Éireann.

Do I move these amendments that have been inserted by the Seanad, or what do I do?

Move that the Committee agree with the Seanad.

I move that the Committee agree with the Seanad in the two amendments proposed by the Seanad.

Mr. Lemass

The correct procedure, while I am not going to insist on it in this case, is that the Minister announces his intention in the matter and a date is fixed for taking the amendments.

I am obliged to Deputy Lemass but it has been my custom in 22 years' experience of this House to rest confidently on the advice of the Ceann Comhairle in regard to these matters of procedure. I propose to adhere to that practice.

Mr. Lemass

We do not object to it being taken now.

I move that the Committee agree with the Seanad in amendment No. 1:—

SECTION 4.

In sub-section (1), paragraph (c), line 8, "registered" inserted before "post".
