Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment in Limerick.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state, in respect of Limerick City, the number of persons at present in receipt of unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance, respectively; further, if he will give separate statistics in respect of (i) carpenters, (ii) masons, (iii) painters, (iv) plumbers, (v) electricians, (vi) plasterers, and (vii) builders' labourers.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated in the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

Week ended the 9th July, 1955:

Number of persons in receipt of unemployment benefit—666.

Number of persons in receipt of unemployment assistance—598.

The separate figures in respect of the classes of applicants specified are:—
