Vol. 153 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sheep Dip Regulations.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the introduction of the new sheep dip which is now in use, he will consider bringing up to date the present antiquated regulations in the matter.

I presume the Deputy refers to the "single dipping" type sheep dips.

The use of "single dipping" type sheep dips has been specifically allowed since 1948 under the Sheep Dipping Order, 1948. This Order provides that where these dips are used, one dipping only will suffice within the prescribed dipping season.

Since the making of the 1948 Order, 50 brands of "single dipping" type sheep dips have been approved as complying with the Department's requirements.
