Vol. 153 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Glucose.

Mr. Lemass

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has considered the effects which the increased price of glucose may have on the export trade in sugar confectionery, and whether any arrangements are in contemplation to offset any adverse effects on this trade.

It is open to any exporter of sugar confectionery to take up with the manufacturers the question of supplies of glucose required for the export trade.

Alternatively, exporters may avail themselves of the facilities provided under the customs drawback arrangements administered by the Revenue Commissioners to which attention was directed in Notice No. 712 issued by the commissioners in relation to the imposition of the customs duty on glucose.
