Vol. 153 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Briquettes for Pensioners.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make representations to Bord na Móna to increase the output of Lullymore briquettes in order that a supply may be made available for old age pensioners, persons in receipt of fuel through local authorities, and recipients of unemployment, sickness and widows' and orphans' benefits.

I have been assured by Bord na Móna that the output of Lullymore briquettes is being increased to the maximum extent possible. The distribution of available supplies is a matter for the board. The securing of supplies for the persons to whom the Deputy refers is a matter for arrangement either between fuel merchants through the usual trade channels or by local authorities in conjunction with the Department of Social Welfare.
