Vol. 153 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sanitary Prosecutions.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that four supervisors and ten inspectors of the Dublin Corporation are engaged on one day each week in the prosecution of cases under the sanitary laws, and, if so, if he will state, in respect of each of the last five years, the cost of such prosecutions and the amount collected in fines.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. As regards the second, I have no information about the cost of prosecutions, but the corporation's accounts show the following receipts in respect of sanitary fines for the five years ending 1954-55: £499 10s.; £525 5s. 11d.; £810 12s. 4d.; £747 9s. and £619 6s. These sums could represent the amounts of the fines collected in each of those years.
