Vol. 153 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Fish Landing Facilities.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is now in a position to state what action he proposes to take with regard to the landing facilities for fishermen at Cladnageeragh on the West Donegal coast.

I understand that the difficulty which existed between the fishermen and the owner of the slip at Cladnageeragh as to the use of the slip in beaching local fishing boats has been settled and that alternative beaching accommodation is not now a necessity. The maintenance of the stone pier at Cladnageeragh is the responsibility of the Donegal County Council and the maintenance of the timber extension to the pier is the responsibility of the Office of Public Works.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say whether the Office of Public Works will undertake the repair of the wooden construction since it is their responsibility? After all, the county council have many other things to take care of.

If the Deputy would address a question to the Minister for Finance I am sure he will get a reply to that question.
