Vol. 153 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cement Deliveries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that building contractors have recently experienced long delays in the delivery of cement with consequent slowing down of progress on many public buildings, and, if so, if he will make a statement in the matter.

I am informed that some delays have occurred in meeting orders for cement, due to the necessity for repairs to a kiln and the unprecedented demand this year because of the long spell of fine weather. I understand that the cement factories, whose productive capacity was increased last years, are in full production now, and I hope that the delays which the Deputy has complained of will shortly be eliminated.
