Vol. 153 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission will consider the propriety of acquiring the holding of Thomas Walsh, Longfield, Straide, Foxford, County Mayo, for the relief of local congestion.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of these lands but the matter has been noted.

Is the Minister aware that an attempt is being made at the present time by the owner to sell privately to an individual who himself has an economic holding and a brand new dwelling house? I would further ask the Minister if he is aware that the holding is of a considerable acreage and is right in the heart of a congested district? Would he take further steps to have the whole lot inquired into?

I will bring the Deputy's remarks to the notice of the Land Commission.
