Vol. 153 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Heparin Substitute from Seaweed.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has seen a report that a substitute for heparin can be made from seaweed and, if so, if he will consider the advisability of promoting the manufacture of this commodity in County Donegal.

My attention has been directed to the report referred to by the Deputy. The Industrial Development Authority are conducting investigations into the industrial uses of seaweed and its derivatives and they will, of course, keep the claims of Donegal as well as those of other areas constantly in mind in this connection.
