The number of milch cows enumerated was 1,203,618 in June, 1954, 1,179,300 in January, 1955, and 1,198,100 in June, 1955. The results of the January, 1956, enumeration are not yet available. The January figures are based on returns covering approximately 25 per cent. of the total.
