Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that an increase of 8/- a week has been granted to road-workers in Tipperary, South Riding, and, if so, when it is proposed to grant a similar increase to the forestry workers employed by his Department in that area.

Any increase in the rate of wages of road workers in Tipperary, South Riding, will be applied to forestry workers in the area. I have not yet had notification of an increase in that rate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will sanction at an early date the application for an increase in wages made by the men employed on the Killorglin forestry scheme.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he proposes to grant an increase in wages to forestry workers in County Kerry.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to reply to Questions Nos. 28 and 29 together.

An increase in wages of 10/- per week effective from 28th November, 1955, has recently been granted to county council road workers in Kerry and a similar increase is being granted to forestry workers in County Kerry forests including Killorglin forest.
