Vol. 154 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Interviews with American Industrialists.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has made arrangements for future interviews with industrialists and other important contacts which he made during his recent tour of the U.S.A. with a view to establishing additional industries in the undeveloped areas, and particularly in Connaught; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The possibilities for establishing new industries opened up by my recent visit to the U.S.A. will be followed up by the Industrial Development Authority. A delegation, consisting of Dr. J.P. Beddy, Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority; Mr. J. Leydon, Economic Adviser to the Minister for Industry and Commerce, and Mr. C. Loughney, a member of the Industrial Development Authority, is about to leave for the U.S.A. for the purpose of meeting American industrialists with a view to active participation by them in industrial development in Ireland. The delegation will, inter alia, stress the facilities provided for industries in the undeveloped areas.
