Vol. 154 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Charges in Donegal.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that in the Inishowen area and other areas in County Donegal, which are now being supplied by the E.S.B., about 30 per cent. of the householders are being asked to pay special charges, and, if so, if he will ascertain from the E.S.B. the cause of such an unusually high percentage of special charges.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that details of those being asked to pay special charges in areas now being supplied in Donegal are not readily available and would take some time to obtain. I suggest that the Deputy should repeat the question in about three weeks' time.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary assure us that the large increase in the number of special charges that we know are being imposed is not due to the withdrawal of the subsidy, which may be compelling the E.S.B. to increase the number of special charges?

That is a separate question.
