Vol. 155 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Mayo School.

asked the Minister for Education whether it is proposed to erect a new school at Banagher, Lacken parish, County Mayo, or to carry out repairs to the existing one; further, whether he has considered the reverend manager's proposals in the matter.

It is proposed, with the concurrence of the reverend manager, to replace the present national school at Banagher, Country Mayo, by a new school, and my Department has sanctioned a grant towards the cost of the construction of the new schoolhouse. The preliminary arrangements for the erection of the new building are in the hands of the Commissioners of Public Works.

My Department is in consultation with the Commissioners of Public Works on the question of the advisability of carrying out some works to improve conditions in the present school pending the completion of the new building.
